During the current period of national lockdown only vulnerable children and the children of critical workers are able to attend school. 

Parents and carers who are critical workers should keep their children at home if they can.

We have implemented our remote education strategy to ensure that all children are able to keep learning.

 

Google Classroom

We use Google Classroom to provide remote education. We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school.

 

We have created a Google Site which is populated with helpful tutorials, resources and other features which parents and children can access using their school Google account.

 

Weekly timetable

The work we set should take approximately 3 hours to do per day for children in foundation stage and key stage 1 or 4 hours per day for children in key stage 2.

Each week, we provide a weekly timetable which helps children and parents to structure and sequence their learning.

 

Different types of learning

Teachers pre-record lessons themselves or use other recorded lessons (for example, from Oak National Academy) which the children can watch at a convenient  time. They are able to pause and rewind at any time. Throughout the school day teachers and other school staff are available on Google Classroom to answer questions or help with any problems.

Learning is divided into key learning and additional learning.

At 5pm each evening, the next day's key learning is published. We encourage all children to complete these activities. 

The whole week's additional learning is published on Sundays at 5pm. This is optional extra work.

 

Happy Fridays

On Fridays, teachers plan “happy” activities we hope the children will enjoy. Children are also able to catch-up on or revisit any previous learning as well as having a chance to respond to any feedback the teacher has provided during the week.

 

Providing feedback

Teachers and other staff respond to comments about learning during the school day. Teachers evaluate learning and if they notice common errors or misconceptions they provide feedback through videos, photos and in written form. If general feedback, rather than individual feedback, has been provided, this will be added to a “feedback” Material which the children are able to refer back to at any time.

 

Live check-ins

We use Google Meet for live ‘check-ins'. These take place a minimum of three times per week for each class. During these sessions the children can discuss learning and progress and our teachers can plan for next steps. These sessions also support the social development and wellbeing of the children by providing them with opportunities to connect with each other.

 

Access to devices

Parents and carers who do not have the necessary devices for their child/ren to access Google Classroom should contact school in order to loan a device for this purpose.
