In Science this term, the children have been learning about different materials and their properties. Today, they conducted an experiment to determine the best material to make an umbrella. First of all, they made predictions; whether the materials would be waterproof. They then carried out their experiment, using the materials to shelter the dog teddy, to see if he remained waterproof. The children were great at recognising if the materials were 'absorbing the water' or 'not absorbing' and used this to determine whether it was waterproof.

The children used a plastic bag, tin foil, paper, hessian, cling film and a sponge in their experiment.
